CPR Course Information
- Pre-course online learning (to be completed before attending)
- Face-to-face practical session contact time of at least 30 Mins.
This course is for individuals working in aged care, disability services, healthcare, and community care settings, where manual handling is a routine part of delivering hands-on care.
During this practical manual handling course, participants will develop the knowledge and skills to:
- Identify hazardous manual tasks and common manual handling risks.
- Recognise risk factors that may contribute to workplace injuries.
- Apply safe manual handling techniques when assisting clients.
- Use correct body positioning, posture and movement techniques.
- Safely move, reposition and transfer clients during personal care activities.
- Use manual handling equipment appropriately, including hoists, slide sheets and transfer belts.
- Apply safer techniques for horizontal, high-to-low and low-to-high movements.
- Assess manual handling risks before undertaking a task.
- Apply appropriate control measures to reduce the risk of injury.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and safe work practices.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.
- Reduce the risk of injury to both workers and the people they support.

The Non-Accredited Manual Handling for Personal Care Workers course provides essential training for individuals working in aged care, disability services, healthcare, and community care settings, where manual handling is a routine part of delivering hands-on care. Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

- Performance Task – Horizontal movement
- Performance Task – High-to-Low manual movement

Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of online multiple-choice questions.
