The answer is now. SafeHands First Aid Academy is officially running first aid and CPR training in Melton, with nationally accredited courses, the same registered nurse trainers you will find at our Tarneit and Werribee venues, and same-day certificates on successful completion.

First aid courses are now running in Melton
Classes are held at Melton Central Community Centre, 239 Station Road, Melton. Sessions start at 10:00am.
You will be trained by the same registered nurse trainers who deliver courses at our Tarneit and Werribee venues. Every course is a nationally recognised HLTAID unit, delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909). You receive your Statement of Attainment on the same day you complete the course.

Why Melton, and why now
The City of Melton is one of the fastest-growing municipalities in Australia. According to Moving Melton (Melton City Council), the population reached approximately 232,721 residents in 2024 and is projected to exceed 470,000 by 2046 (Moving Melton, 2024). The Kangan Institute confirmed the municipality’s annual population growth rate sits at 6.61%, making it the fourth largest-growing local government area in Australia (Kangan Institute, May 2025).
It is also one of the youngest communities in Melbourne’s west. Young families, tradespeople and healthcare workers make up a large share of the population, and all of them need access to accredited first aid training.
Until now, Melton residents had to travel to Werribee, Tarneit or central Melbourne for a face-to-face first aid course. That is no longer the case.
The demand for local training is also reflected in infrastructure investment. A new $55 million Kangan Institute TAFE campus is being built at Cobblebank, set to open mid-2028. It will focus on construction trades and emerging technologies, and confirms what the community already knows: Melton needs more training options, closer to home.

Which course should you book?
SafeHands offers three core first aid courses at the Melton venue. Each one is a nationally recognised HLTAID unit.
HLTAID009 Provide CPR Covers CPR technique, AED use and the recovery position. Ideal for annual CPR refreshers and workplace compliance. The practical session takes approximately 45 minutes.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid A comprehensive first aid course that includes CPR, bleeding control, burns, fractures, asthma and anaphylaxis response. This is the most commonly booked course for workplaces, students and the general public.
HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting Designed for childcare workers, early learning staff, OSHC staff and school support workers. Includes infant and child emergency response, seizure management and scenario-based practice.

How a first aid course works at the Melton venue
Every course follows a blended learning format. Here is what to expect:
Before your class day, you complete online pre-learning at your own pace. This covers the theory side of first aid, including DRSABCD, legal considerations and emergency recognition.
On your class day, you attend the face-to-face practical session at Melton Central Community Centre. You will practise CPR on advanced manikins, learn how to use an AED, and work through bandaging, splinting and real-life scenario exercises. Our trainers walk you through every step.
After your practical assessment, your trainer reviews your performance. If you have completed all online learning, enrolment and practical requirements, your nationally recognised certificate is issued on the same day.
Bring the following to your session:
- Your Unique Student Identifier (USI). You can create one free at usi.gov.au if you do not already have one.
- Photo ID (driver licence, passport or equivalent).
- Closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing suitable for kneeling and practical exercises.
What does a first aid course in Melton include?
This is one of the most common questions from first-time learners. A nationally accredited first aid course includes your online pre-learning workbook, face-to-face practical training and assessment, and your Statement of Attainment certificate on successful completion.
It is worth noting that cheaper, non-accredited first aid certificates exist online, but they will not satisfy an employer, a childcare regulator or a construction site induction requirement. If you need a certificate that is recognised across Australia, it must come from an accredited course delivered through a Registered Training Organisation.

5 things to check before your Melton first aid class
- Create or find your USI. You cannot receive your certificate without a Unique Student Identifier. It is free to create at usi.gov.au.
- Bring photo ID. A driver licence, passport or government-issued ID card.
- Wear closed-toe shoes. You will be kneeling and performing practical exercises on the floor.
- Arrive 10 minutes early. This gives you time for registration and any admin requirements before the session begins.
